About DITOGA
DITOGA is an international Erasmus+ project coordinated by Jugend am Werk Steiermark from Austria and co-funded by the European Commission.
The project tackles the challenge to keep further education and training (FET) training courses up-to-date with recent job market needs by engaging further education and training graduates in an ongoing feedback loop that provides meaningful data for FET providers. Thereby, we strive to improve the quality and sustainability of vocational education and training throughout Europe. The DITOGA partnership is assembled by seven organisations from six EU countries: Austria, Italy, Finland, Spain, Belgium, and Ireland.
What does DITOGA mean?
We promise, only the name is complicated here.
DITOGA stands for:
“Digital tracking of vocational training graduates using auto-analytics to increase the quality and sustainability of vocational training and further education.”
The main goal is to help FET institutions to provide their students and graduates with state-of-the-art competences, skills and knowledge required at the job market.
Who benefits from DITOGA?
On the one hand, it benefits training and further education institutions (FET providers) and, on the other hand, young trainees and FET learners.
Vocational training institutions should be able to react more quickly to the changing demands of the labour market and adapt their training offers accordingly. In the future, apprentices should benefit from this in their training and, of course, in their jobs.
For example:
Michael completed a Traineeship as an office clerk. His work is easy for him, but he has a hard time keeping in touch with customers.
Lisa is a qualified car mechanic. She knows a lot about cars, but she doesn’t succeed in convincing her colleagues to implement new ideas.
What competences, skills or knowledge would Michael and Lisa have needed in their FET training to make it easier for them to do their daily work?
This is exactly where the DITOGA project comes in.
How does the DITOGA project work?
In a first step, we ask young people, training institutions and companies what they are missing in vocational training, for example potential skill gaps. From this input, we make a list with measurement criteria and a list of questions.
The next step is to develop an auto-analytics app for mobile phones to be used by FET graduates. The app enables young people who have completed their vocational training to give feedback on their training and their need in a real life context. The answers from the app are then anonymised, analysed and evaluated using special software. At the end, we make these results and deductions available to FET training institutions using the DITOGA Analytics Software.
Why should YOU get involved?
Because it’s important … and it’s fun.
The app works using self-tracking software and by using a reward system. The basic questions are: Can I apply the things I learned in training to my job? And where would I have needed more or different competences? The more questions are answered, the more virtual reward trophies, so-called “badges”, are collected in the app and keep the user motivated to insert data and to excel at their current job. It will support FET institutions all over Europe to adapt their FET programmes in respect of current developments in the business world.
