Cork College of FET, Life Sciences Centre is a centre of excellence for the reskilling and upskilling needs of the Life Sciences Sector in Cork. The Centre opened in 2006 and since then has re-skilled over 1,000 learners as operators for Cork’s booming Life Sciences sector. The centre works closely with our industry partners to ensure course content is reflective of current industry standards and practice. The Centre is on the outskirts of Carrigaline, a short distance from the pharmaceutical hub of Cork Harbour.

The Centre has two primary focuses:

Full time reskilling programme for those looking to start a career in the Biopharmaceutical, Pharmaceutical and MedTech sector.
Bespoke upskilling courses for partner companies who wish to upskill or reskill new and existing staff.

The Life Sciences Centre is renowned among the industry for its state-of-the-art equipment, knowledgeable staff, and hands-on practical training. The Centre is equipped with many of the items of equipment used in industry but on a smaller scale. You will learn to use equipment such as bioreactor, autoclave, glovebox, purified water skid and work in a mimic cleanroom. The process area has been designed to replicate the GMP environment – this means we behave as if we were working in industry, following the dress codes and behaviours associated with a GMP manufacturing site. We gown up in lab coats, hairnets, shoe covers and accurately follow documentation when we are carrying out our work.

Bespoke Upskilling Courses for Industry:

We offer short bespoke training for companies in the Life Sciences Sector to upskill and reskill staff. If you have an upskilling need for your staff then contact the Life Sciences Centre Team who will be happy to work with you to co-design a solution for your team’s learning and development needs.
