Life Sciences Centre

The Life Sciences Centre in Carrigaline centre opened in 2006.  It is a ‘hands on’ training facility where people can gain the practical skills required to work in the Life Sciences sector which includes Pharma, Biopharma, and Med Tech Companies.

The guiding principles by which the centre was set up and continues to operate today are consultation, collaboration, and a focus on delivery both for and with key stakeholders, including industry and learners.  The centre itself has a small and dedicated staff, all who have worked in the Life Sciences sector, so have significant industry experience. The primary course delivery is Life Sciences Traineeship, which is QQI level 5 major award. The industry is “high tech” with manufacturing processes constantly evolving, we strive to keep delivery current and work closely with local companies to ensure learners who complete our programme meet their business needs.

“I attended the Life Sciences course in Carrigaline & having previously worked in the construction industry, I was looking for a change. I found this difficult as I did not have any experience or 3rd level education to work in this area. The course gave me an opportunity to reskill & I gained great attention from potential employers. I am now successfully employed in Jannsen Biologics in Co. Cork. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to upskill or change career. It has made the difference for me.”

Manufacturing Technician, Jannsen Biologics.

“I began the Life Science Manufacturing Operations course in June of 2014. Having come from a completely different industry background, I was looking to make the transition to the Pharmaceutical Sector. I found the course while intense to be highly informative and extremely rewarding. I was guided through the various modules by a wonderfully supportive and encouraging team of tutors. Through their guidance and patience I developed the necessary qualifications to pursue my career within the pharmaceutical industry. If you are thinking of pursuing a career in the pharma industry, this course coupled with your own hard work and dedication is the one for you! I cannot recommend it enough.”
