Introduction to Bioprocessing
(Industry Only)
Take the first step!
LOCATION:
Onsite at Cork College of FET, Life Sciences Centre.
CERTIFICATION:
In house Certification.
INTRODUCTION:
This three day course is ideal to upskill or refresh the skills of staff in the Life Sciences Sector. Your staff will gain a theoretical overview of biopharmaceutical production including upstream and downstream processing. They will learn about the components and principles of operation of a range of equipment utilised in upstream and downstream processing and perform a variety of tasks using these equipment items.
COURSE CONTENT:
- Provide an overview of upstream processing including cell culture scale up process, bioreactor design, modes of operation and monitoring/control of the process.
- Provide an overview of downstream bioprocessing (product purification) activities including equipment design and operation/ control requirements associated with process steps such as chromatography and UF/DF (ultrafiltration/diafiltration).
- Describe contamination control methodologies utilised in biopharmaceutical manufacture.
- Interpret a Piping & Instrumentation Drawing (P&ID).
- Conduct calibration checks on an analytical balance and pH meter.
- Perform tasks relating to upstream bioprocessing including operation of a bioreactor.
- Perform tasks relating to downstream bioprocessing including integrity testing and ultrafiltration/diafiltration.
- Perform tasks relating to contamination control such as Steam in Place (SIP) and equipment sanitisation.
FUNDING:
Unaccredited training will be charged to the company.
